Finding the numbers (when your department doesn't have it's own profile)

First of all, if you want to know about your sites web stats, you can just ask us. Send and email to web.help@rch.org.au with the name of the site you want stats on, and the time frame you want them for (the last 30 days? The last year?), and we can provide them.

If you want to be able to look them up for yourself, then keep reading...

Some web sites will have their own dedicated profile because they are high volume sites. But Google limit's us to only 50 profiles and so only 50 sites can be tracked this way. We are already at this limit, so if your site does not already have it's own profile, it will not get one.

But all is not lost!

All RCH pages get tracked, and if you are on the RCH web site, you can find your stats. Here's how...

Log in to Google Analytics.

At the top of the page, you will see the "View Reports" drop down list. Make sure "[all]" is selected. This will show you stats for all traffic to the RCH site. Selecting "[external]" or "[internal]" will show you only external or internal traffic.

Next, click on the "Content" link on the left of the page. This will show you reports on what content was accessed (what pages people visited). This is usually what people are most interested in.

Once you have clicked "Content", click on "Top Content" from the sub menu.

Once the "top content" report has loaded, we need to filter it down to only show reports from your department. Google filters results based on a part of the URL. So if we want to find results only for the Communities That Care web site, we need to check the URL.

What we want is the part of the URL immediatly after the "rch.org.au" part. So in the above screen shot, we see that "/ctc/" is the bit we are interested in. Ignore anything after this bit in the address.

Now that we have the text for the filter, we need to tell Google Analytics to use it.

Near the bottom of the page, you will find the "Filter Page" field. Type in the text we found from the address. In this case, type "/ctc/", then press the "Go" button.
